Executive Chef, Collin Hutchinson
A Valley native, Chef Collin Hutchinson left Arizona to chase his passion for Italian cuisine and start his culinary journey at The International Culinary Center in New York City. From New York, Chef Hutchinson continued his studies in the Emilia-Romagna region of Northern Italy at ALMA, The International School of Italian Cuisine.
With his formal education completed, Chef Hutchinson made his way to the Italian countryside as an understudy to Michelin Star-awarded Chef Gianluca Gorini at his restaurant daGorini in the small village of San Piero in Bagno, Italy. Every dish at daGorini began with individual ingredients sourced from the hunters, farmers, and foragers of the village—something Chef Gianluca Gorini believed in deeply. It was here that Chef Hutchinson’s commitment to using only the freshest and highest quality locally grown ingredients in his kitchen was solidified.
After absorbing all he could, Chef Hutchinson moved on. He traded the serenity of the small Italian village for the hustle and energy of New York, where he intended to expand his knowledge. His journey included stints at staples of the city’s food scene, such as the fine dining Tuscan restaurant I Sodi, where he worked under Rita Sodi, the 2019 James Beard Award winner for Best Chef. He also cooked at the ever-popular L'Artusi, named in homage to the "Father of Italian Cuisine," Pellegrino Artusi. Finally, before heading back out west, he earned his way to Sous Chef at the Michelin Star-awarded Wallsé in New York’s West Village.
Chef Hutchinson has made his way back home to be with his family and to bring his experiences and love for quality Italian cooking to his hometown’s growing and diverse food scene. He will forever appreciate his mentors and those who were willing to share their passion and knowledge with him throughout his travels, but he is now writing his own story at Marino's Italian Kitchen and Bar.
